As a first-time expectant Mom, you’re excited about your baby shower and want to capture everything in a baby registry checklist. Don’t worry if you don’t know everything that should be listed because Walmart knows babies! We’ve got you covered with a baby registry checklist you can share with friends and family.
Baby Registry Checklist:
The nursery is Baby Central. Whether it’s a corner of your bedroom or a separate room, you’ll want baby’s bed and these essentials nearby and ready to greet your little one on their first day home.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that newborns sleep in the same room as the parents, but in a separate sleeping space. For this reason, many parents prefer the smaller size of a bassinet compared to a crib. Some have both.
A safe and sturdy changing station for baby is a must. Walmart has dozens of changing table options. We like this one by Delta Children because it’s unfussy and has lots of room for easy-to-access storage on two large, open shelves. It also features high safety rails around all four sides to help keep baby safe.
Here’s a win-win for everyone. The Dream On Me Synergy, 5 in 1 Convertible Crib adapts from a standard crib into a toddler bed, a daybed and a full-size bed (conversion kit required). Accommodates a standard size crib mattress. (Crib mattress and mattress pad sold separately).
When you have a newborn, poop happens! Ask your baby shower guests to help you stock up on the things you’ll need several times per day.
You can’t have too many diapers. This pack of Rascal+ Friends contains 48 soft diapers that are designed to help prevent sneaky leaks (and big explosions, too!). This brand (a Walmart exclusive) is made with SFI certified sustainable pulp. It is dermatest certified, vegan and cruelty-free. And don’t forget wipes! You can’t have too many of those, either.
Use this cream on baby and yourself! PENATEN cream has been trusted for over 100 years and is the #1 Diaper Rash brand in Canada. This thick, rich cream from Johnson’s Baby stays in place as it works to soothe, heal and protect against common skin irritations. The 18% zinc oxide formula is meant to help guard against diaper rash and other common skin irritations such as sunburn, eczema, minor burns and rashes.
The Playtex Diaper Genie can be customized to compliment the décor of baby’s room or left in classic white. This diaper pail holds up to 50 newborn diapers. The easy push-button lid operates with just one hand. Comes with one starter refill. Designer fabric sleeves sold separately.
This diaper bag from Baby Boom sports a cheerful elephant motif. It features enough space (five exterior and two interior pockets) to pack what you need when you’re running errands. It includes a changing pad—one less thing to remember to pack when you’re on the go!
How do you want to present your little one to the world? In traditional blue or pink? With non-gender specific colours or with cute sayings or trendy images? Maybe you’re so exhausted that you’d prefer your baby shower guests pick them for you, and that’s where our huge selection of baby clothing comes in.
Bath time is a ritual many parents look forward to, for bonding and playtime. Baby needs their own soft, safe and gentle bath products and linens.
If you prefer the big tub for bathing growing baby, Walmart has many tub seats, too.
Baby’s delicate skin needs the gentle touch of towels and cloths made specifically for baby. A hooded towel dries baby’s head and body after a bath and helps keep them warm. Choose from a hippo, chicken or elephant towel from 3 Sprouts. Put super-soft and absorbent baby washcloths on your list, too.
Before baby arrives, take care of minor issues you’ve been putting off. Rugs that need non-slip backing, fresh batteries for the smoke alarms and if you don’t already know it, learn CPR. There are many helpful items you can put on your baby shower want list that are designed to keep your baby safe and give you peace of mind.
Everyone wants to see the baby! And when you’re on the move, you’ll want as little hassle as possible because chores still have to get done. With the right gear, you’re good to go.
Automobile and airline certified, this Scenera car seat by Cosco holds children 5-40 lbs, 19-40 inches (rear facing) and 22-40 lbs, 29-43 inches (forward facing). The harness features five heights and three buckle locations to fit your growing child. Removable cup holder and machine-washable seat pad.
The Cuddle Carrier from Jolly Jumper adjusts, so newborns face mom or dad. As they get older, they can look out at the world. This baby carrier is machine-washable. It features wide shoulder straps for the carrier’s comfort and a padded roll providing neck support to baby. Adjusts to fit children from 7 to 33 lbs.
This stroller by Joovy is designed to be ultra-lightweight. It features a reversible handle and bassinet mode for on-the-go naptime. This versatile stroller has a universal car seat adapter and two cup holders (one for baby and one for you!). It boasts many other outstanding features and is available in bright, fun colours.
Deciding to breastfeed or formula feed is a personal decision, as outlined by the Public Health Agency of Canada. Do what’s right for you and the health of your baby. If you choose to formula feed, make sure to do your research and share your decision with your doctor and your baby’s doctor. They can offer guidance on the best options for you and baby.
Walmart has all the supplies you’ll need to help keep baby fed from day one. And when baby gets older—and starts using a booster seat and high chair as well as managing cutlery, plates and sippy cups, come back to us for that, too!
Nice to Have
(but not essential, at least not right away)
You will eventually need some of these items (and more) as your home grows by two feet. The urgency of coats and swimsuits will depend on the season. A glider is calming for both you and your wee one—many moms feel they can’t do without it. And some moms feel their little one falls asleep easier when there’s a baby sound machine in the nursery. It’s time for you to decide what items (if any) you’d like to add to the “Nice to have” section of your baby registry checklist.
We hope we’ve taken some of the stress out of deciding what items to list on your baby registry checklist. Congratulations from all of us at Walmart!
