(Click for downloadable version)It can seem daunting to sift through the myriad of strollers available to the consumer these days. There are standard strollers, travel system strollers, double and triple (and more!) strollers, umbrella strollers and jogging strollers.
But once you identify your top needs including where you plan to use your stroller most, you’ll be able to zero in on the perfect stroller to suit your needs. My husband and I have been down this road. We survived and so can you!

Going for walks with your baby is a great way to get some fresh air and exercise, too. Since newborns can’t hold their head up, you may want to consider a standard stroller with a bassinet to accommodate your newborn until they’re able to hold up their head on their own. The ideal standard stroller should also have a reclining feature and reversible seat option to accommodate growing babies.
The CosmoS by StrollAir is an all-terrain, single stroller engineered with many features. Newborns can lie flat in the CosmoS bassinet, which includes a mattress with a zippered cover that is easy to remove and wash. The reversible seat has an independently adjustable backrest and footrest so that older babies can nap comfortably with their legs outstretched. The CosmoS flat recline feature also allows for on-the-go diaper changes in the stroller.
Travel System Stroller
Parents who are constantly on the go may want to consider a travel system stroller. It is a full-size stroller that comes with a compatible infant car seat that conveniently clips into the stroller. This feature allows a parent to move the baby’s car seat out of the car and into the stroller without waking their new little bundle of cuteness. When shopping for a travel system, keep in mind that you’ll be adding your baby’s weight to the weight of the car seat, so you may want to look for something light and comfortable to tote around.
The Safety 1st Smooth Ride Travel System’s canopy provides super-sized coverage and includes a special flip-out visor when you want to give your child some additional protection. The parent and child trays are ideal for smaller items you’ll want to keep close by, and larger items will fit nicely into the extra-large storage basket. Comes with stroller, car seat and adjustable car seat base.

Whether you have twins (like me) or more than one child, you may appreciate a double stroller. While many of these strollers come in tandem configurations, with one seat in front of the other, double strollers are also available as side-by-side strollers. Some parents find it easier to get their children in and out of the side-by-side stroller. Others prefer the tandem design because it’s easier to get the tandem stroller through doorways and other tight spaces. I prefer the tandem design because my tired little one can sit in the back, more protected from the elements as he naps, while my other bundle of energy sits at the front enjoying the view.
This double stroller by Summer Infant is designed with large canopies that can adjust independently. The rear canopy features a rear peek-a-boo window. The front seat features a padded bumper bar and adjustable calf rest. The rear seat features a footrest. This tandem stroller includes a large storage basket with enough space to pack double the stuff you’ll need to take with you when travelling with two kiddies in tow.
An umbrella stroller is a great stroller for running errands because it is specifically engineered to be lightweight. It’s compact design quickly folds for easy portability. Umbrella strollers offer added protection from the sun and heat due to their built-in umbrella.
This TraveLite lightweight umbrella stroller by Graco features a sturdy frame, a reclining seat and removable parent cup holder. The adjustable calf support helps provide a comfortable position for your child as they grow. A storage latch keeps the stroller folded when not in use.
For active families, a jogging stroller might be the right fit. While it can be tempting to head out for a run with your everyday stroller, you’ll end up thanking yourself for investing in a jogging stroller. This type of stroller features large, air-filled tires for a more comfortable ride, and often has a lockable swivel front wheel to accommodate both smooth and rougher surfaces.
For the active parent who enjoys exercising in the great outdoors, the Schwinn Arrow Single Jogger Stroller might be what you need to make your daily runs a reality. This jogging stroller features 16-inch quick-release pneumatic tires and aluminum rims, dual exposed shock absorbers for a smoother ride and an adjustable handle. It also has a bicycle-style hand brake for additional stopping power.
Once you’ve decided on the perfect stroller for your needs, be sure to check out Walmart.ca’s stroller accessories and stroller and car seat toys. Accessories like sun shades and rain covers can be helpful if the stroller’s built-in umbrella doesn’t provide quite enough protection from the elements. Clip on toys will help keep your little one occupied while you’re out for a walk, running errands or going for a run.
