It's About Time!

With Daylight Saving Time returning this Sunday, maybe this is the perfect opportunity for you to spring forward with one of Walmart’s latest offerings in stylish clocks.

Not every part of Canada will move their clocks ahead this Sunday at 2 a.m. For most of us who do, this is a time of mixed feelings. Sure it means that we’re one step closer to spring, but we also lose an hour’s sleep that night. Let’s focus on celebrating the positive and use this time (change) to inject a little style into our home. After all, you can’t stop time, but you can sure enjoy checking its progress.

Some Pieces Ahead of Their Time

As someone who is always looking at the clock—old habits die hard—I especially love our wall clock by Umbra. We have ours on a narrow wall next to the kitchen. What I like about this clock is that you can place the hour marking pieces wherever you like: it’s the ultimate in flexibility. No, Cher, you can’t “turn back time,” but you can at least place the hours where you want them!

Stylish and modern, this Umbra Blink wall clock includes a set of black metal indicators plus the number 12. All mount to the wall with adhesives. A template to set the scale of the clock is included.

The same versatility applies to this nifty Numbra wall clock (also by Umbra). Every hour is individually designed in stamped metal to look like a house number. Position each piece on the wall using an adhesive and the accompanying template to help you map out the scale of your clock.

The placement of these funky numbers can be adjusted to fit your space, be it large or small. The centre clock mechanism mounts to the wall using a screw or a nail and operates on one AA battery.

Rock Around the Clock

You can enjoy a wonderful and colourful way to rise and shine. This little dual alarm FM clock radio from iHome may help those tired eyes open even if you’re feeling the effects of losing an hour’s sleep. You’ll have almost as many choices of ways to wake up as there are cereals in the cupboard. And if you don’t want to wake up “blue,” you can change colours for fun and fabulous effects.

This colour-changing dual alarm FM clock radio features six programmable FM pre-sets and four LED wake-to modes. You’re not just limited to radio, either: an aux-in jack with included audio cable will let you enjoy your favourite sounds from almost any audio source. A 1 Amp USB charging port will allow you to charge most mobile devices, too.

What’s bright, white and even visible in the darkness of night? The answer? This pristine cube clock FM/AM radio from SONY. You’ll appreciate its easy automatic time set so when the clocks change; you won’t be fumbling through a manual to figure out how to set it.

Is Your Child Ready for a Clock?

I remember my first clock radio. Yes, the numbers clicked and flipped. The alarm was a heinously jarring buzzer but believe me, back in the day when snakes had legs, this was pretty mind-blowing. Your child’s first alarm clock should be memorable, too. Walmart.ca has a wide selection of children’s choices including one from Disney Frozen that even plays “Let It Go.”

The video for the trailer for Disney Frozen 2 (out Nov. 22) shows that sisters Anna and Elsa are still—forgive me—red hot! Start your child’s day with these sweet Disney characters singing “Let It Go.” It has a backlit display and sleep timer night light for your little royal family member.

I know this next alarm clock radio would be a big hit in our special boy’s room as it goes with his beloved stuffed friends from PAW Patrol!

When the day comes to teach your child or grandchild to tell time, you may find it helpful to use this old-school alarm clock. It features time teaching hands, easy-to-read numbers as well as favourite PAW Patrol characters. Best of all, this clock can be set to light up every hour or on demand for 15 seconds. PAW Patrol Twin Bell Alarm Clock to the rescue!

Spring Training Fever

If the arrival of March means you’re itching to watch your favourite sports team “Play Ball!” (like Rob and I do), then Walmart has the perfect way to help you count the hours until opening day.

Hope springs eternal with the start of a new season. Walmart has a selection of baseball license plate clocks by GTEI to help you pass the time until that first pitch flies. Runs on a AA battery (not included).

Of course, there are also playoff games to look forward as we move towards spring. That’s why Walmart offers a selection of team license plate clocks for your favourite NBA and NHL teams as well. Walmart also has a team license plate clock for your fave NFL team, in case you were wondering.

So don’t forget to set your clocks ahead at 2 a.m. this Sunday (unless you’re in Saskatchewan or any of the other spots in Canada that observe Standard Time year-round). And remember this wisdom from an unknown sage: time flies like an arrow, but fruit flies like a banana. Ba-Dum-Bum. Timing!
