    Heat 1 cup each sugar and water in saucepan over medium and cook until syrupy. Add 2 cups mixed berries (blackberries, blueberries and raspberries), and cook until softened, 5 min. Stir in ? cup red-wine vinegar and transfer to large bowl and refrigerate until cold. Pour into pitcher, add 3 cups sparkling water and serve over ice. Makes 6 cups.
