Broccoli and cheese are a flavourful duo that can't go wrong. In this easy broccoli casserole recipe, a thick sauce dresses tender-crisp florets, while a layer of golden bread crumbs adds tasty crunch. And the best part? It's ready in just 20 minutes.

    Position rack in centre of oven, then preheat broiler. Spray a 1.5-L shallow casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray.

    Heat a medium saucepan over medium. Add 2 tbsp margarine, then sprinkle over flour. Cook, stirring constantly, 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk. Bring to a boil and cook until thickened, about 1 minute.

    Stir in cheese and Dijon until cheese is melted. Reduce heat to medium-low.

    Add broccoli. Cook, stirring often, until heated through, about 2 minutes. Transfer to prepared dish.

    Combine bread crumbs and remaining 2 tbsp margarine in a small bowl until combined. Sprinkle over broccoli mixture.

    Broil until golden, about 1 minute.
