Heat a large frying pan over medium-high. Add oil, then chicken and ham. Cook until chicken is no longer pink, about 5 minutes.
Add tomatoes to pan. Add water and vegetable soup mix. Increase heat to high and bring to a boil.
Stir in rice. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender, about 20 minutes.
