Bear-Shaped Chocolate Cookies Recipe
Beat sugar and butter in a large bowl, using an electric mixer, until creamy. Beat in melted chocolate, eggs and vanilla extract. Stir in oats, flour, baking powder and salt until well combined. Cover and refrigerate dough for 2 hours.
Position rack in centre of oven, then preheat to 350°F.
Make the Bears: Roll dough into twelve 1-in balls (for the bodies), twelve 1/2-in balls (for the heads), and seventy-two 1/4-in balls (for the arms, legs and ears).
Gently press pieces together on a large baking sheet, following photo as a guide, to form bears. Place bears 2-in apart on sheet. Flatten each bear slightly.
Bake until cookies are just firm to the touch, about 8 to 10 minutes. Do not overbake. Cool cookies on sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer cookies to a rack to cool completely.
Decorate cooled cookie with icing and raw oats, if desired. Store cookies tightly covered.
