
Hearty Slow Cooker Beef Stew Recipe

Place beef broth in a large bowl. Pour water over broth, then stir until dissolved. Set aside.

Season beef with pepper, then coat with 2 tbsp of flour. Heat a large frying pan over medium-high. Add oil, then half of beef. Brown on all sides, about 4 minutes. Repeat with remaining half.

Place potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic, Worcestershire, thyme and bay leaf into a 5-L slow cooker. Add beef. Reserve 1/4 cup of broth in a small bowl, then add remaining broth to slow cooker.

Cook until fork-tender, 8 hours on low, or 5 hours on high.

Remove and discard bay leaf. Whisk remaining 2 tbsp flour to reserved broth until smooth. Stir flour mixture into slow cooker, then add peas. Increase heat to high. Cover and cook until sauce is thickened, about 15 minutes.
