Cranberry, Pear and Apple Crisp Recipe

This easy-to-put-together crisp recipe uses whole wheat flour, oats and wheat bran in the crumble! Ready in an hour, this comforting winter dessert is something to enjoy while baking, too; It fills the house with delicious scent of cinnamon, cardamom and ginger.

    Position rack in centre of oven, then preheat to 350°F.

    Combine apples, pears, cranberries, sugar and cinnamon in a 10-in round baking dish.

    Stir flour, oats, brown sugar, wheat bran, ginger, cardamom and allspice in a medium bowl. Cut in margarine with a pastry cutter (or two knives) until mixture is size of small peas. Sprinkle over fruit.

    Bake until fruit is tender and bubbling around edges, and crumble is deep golden brown, about 40 minutes. (If topping is browning too quickly, cover loosely with aluminum foil.)
