Best Beef Stew Recipe
Toss beef with flour in a medium bowl. Heat oil in large saucepan over medium. Add oil, then beef. Cook, turning meat occasionally until brown on all sides, 3 to 5 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
Add onion and garlic to same saucepan. Cook, stirring often, until onions are tender, about 4 minutes. Stir in stock, hot water, Worcestershire sauce and beef. Bring to a boil over high, then reduce heat to low. Simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, until beef is almost tender, about 40 minutes.
Stir in potatoes and carrots. Simmer until beef and vegetables are tender, about 40 more minutes.
