Smoky BBQ Burger

Smoky BBQ Burger

30-minute recipe Serves 6
The smoky flavours of this bbq burger recipe are inspired by dinner around a mesquite campfire on the range. Crispy fried onions and crisp bacon add extra layers of flavour and texture. Tip: Pressing a shallow indent into your burger patties before cooking helps retain their shape (avoiding a puffy, domed burger patty).

Prep: 15-minute | Cook: 15-minute
  • 1

    Preheat barbecue to medium.

  • 2

Combine ground beef, Bar-B-Q sauce, Stubb’s Beef Marinade, liquid smoke and Stubb’s Beef Spice Rub in a large bowl. Divide into 6 portions. Shape each into a patty. Press a shallow indent in centre of each with your thumb.

  • 3

Oil grill. Barbecue burgers, with lid closed, until cooked through and an instant-read thermometer inserted into burger reads 160°F, about 6 to 7 minutes per side.

  • 4

Meanwhile, add onion slices and buns to grill. Barbecue until onions are lightly charred and soft and buns are toasted.

  • 5

Layer burgers, cheese, bacon, crispy fried onions and grilled onion between buns.
