    Preheat barbecue to medium. Scatter butter in bottom of a foil roasting pan.

    Whisk together sugar, allspice, paprika, garlic powder, salt, cayenne, nutmeg and cinnamon in a medium bowl until evenly combined. Press chicken into spice mixture, turning to coat on all sides, then place skin side down in prepared pan. Sprinkle any remaining spice mixture on top.

    Place foil pan on grill. Barbecue, lid closed, until until an instant-read thermometer inserted into thickest part of thighs reads 165°F, about 25 minutes, flipping chicken after 15 minutes.

    Increase heat to medium-high. Transfer chicken to grill, skin side down, and barbecue until grill-marked, about 2 to 4 minutes. Serve with rice and beans.
