    Heat a large saucepan over medium-high. Add margarine, bell peppers, onion, carrot, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Cook, stirring often, until vegetables are tender, about 4 minutes.

    Stir in rice. Cook, stirring occasionally, 3 minutes. Add broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Simmer, covered, until rice is tender, about 25 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes.
