Respawn will use the force at EA Play, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will make it’s debut in Los Angeles, on June 7th

Attention all Padawans! EA and Respawn have confirmed that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order gameplay will debut at EA Play before E3. Circle those calendars for June 7th as we finally get a look beyond the cinematic trailer that ignited the galaxy back in April at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is scheduled for release on November 15, 2019, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

There are a lot of questions to be answered around the new game; hopefully, we get a Jabba The Hut serving of gameplay details!

We know a few details about the game already, such as the name of the new protagonist being Cal Kestis. He’s a Padawan fighting for survival as he is hunted by the Empire along with other surviving Jedi of Order 66. The game is a single player, narrative-driven, experience that contains no microtransactions. Another element to get excited about is the focus on lightsaber combat and enhancing your force-based abilities. We don’t exactly know how this will all come together, possibly as a skill tree, but the potential lightsaber duels have me excited!

Along with this announcement, EA also added 12 Star Wars games to their EA Origins gaming subscription service. No Jedi mind tricks here, just more games than you could shake a lightsaber at! The full list below:

  • Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
  • Battlefront II (2005)
  • Republic Commando
  • Rogue Squadron 3D
  • Dark Forces
  • Shadows of the Empire
  • X-Wing Alliance
  • Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith
  • Galactic Battlegrounds Saga
  • Starfighter
  • Episode 1 Racer
  • Rebellion

That’s a lot of games to whet your Star Wars gaming appetite before Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s big launch on November 15th.

Our Take: It’s finally happening! As much as cinematic trailers that reveal a story and characters are exciting, the real proof is in the gameplay. I see the trailer from April as a small (but very promising) piece of the puzzle. It’s time for the big reveal that Star Wars fans have been waiting for what seems like a millennium! It will be intriguing to see what developer Respawn Entertainment brings to the table. Their first take at the Star Wars gaming franchise could be just what it needs for a proper reboot.

I am really looking forward to seeing how the addition of one-on-one battles with Purge Troopers and Inquisitors will add to the combat. Based on what we’ve seen it’s not just about bowling over scores of Stormtroopers but mastering your lightsaber and force-based skills against similarly-skilled Empire warriors.

If EA and Respawn can put forth a strong showing at EA Play and drop a bombshell or two around the new title, the positive buzz could hit a fever pitch. Should they announce the game is playable at the event, this could be one to could steal the show at E3 even before the doors officially open! This reveal is extremely high stakes, with Star Wars fans waiting for a narrative-driven Star Wars game for over a decade.
